In this LLBLGEN thread
http://www.llblgen.com/tinyforum/Messages.aspx?ThreadID=3657&HighLight=1
Omar mentions that
"JCL comes with extensive documentation and a complete tutorial".
Where can I find these ?

Hello,

that thread is more than a year old. Back then we were are version 1.4 I think on version 1.1 of the .Net framework. Version 1.4 of the JCL framework came bundled with complete documentation.

However, we've released at least 4 new versions of the framework, since then. Now, we have the JCL tutorial videos which may help you start a JCL project. We will be publishing more videos soon, in addition to new documents on the framework. Please stay tuned for those.

I'm sorry if this causes some kind of inconvenience.

Thanks,
Bashar

Maybe it doesn't even have to be extensive documentation but rather a document pointing out what documentation to get from LLBLGen what from CSLA.NET and then where it differs and how JCL is dealing with it.

This would be much less work to write but be very useful.

I feel it would help people place more trust in JCL because then they know where to fit JCL in, how it differs from what they already know etc.

Thanks for your hard work

I have to agree. Current documentation is a key to building trust.

I've seen in other postings on the forum that JCL is supposed to be like an open source project. When I evaluate an open source project, the first thing I look at is recent activity. To be perfectly honest, the level of activity on this forum is scaring me! There is just about no documentation, the videos are out of date, and the forum activity is light. If I hadn't seen recent posts by the developers, I'd be looking elsewhere.

My point in this is that it would give me a lot more confidence and build trust if I saw any documentation being posted. An FAQ would be great and installation instructions even better. I considered making something from the video but since it is out-of-date, I didn't want to waste my time.

Lastly, I think your program is great. Please reply to this so I can be assured that there are real people out there in cyberspace!

Ok. First and foremost you are absolutely right. Personally I would not use a development framework that does not have extensive documentation. Second of all, activity on this forum, even this site, has been really lite.

Therefore, I promise, before the end of May (2007 ) to have the following uploaded;

  • Updated videos
  • Version 1 of some sort of document (let me know which would you like)
  • A FAQ list

Let me know!
